Practice Makes Perfect is the first Gold badge in Time Attack. The time-attack family shows 6.2 percent of players with one. On PC the mode is named Time Attack. On Xbox the hot lap is Time Trial, and the Grand Prix label is absent there. The badge is the same idea: a solo lap quick enough to turn gold.

A gold lap is a comparison against a set time, not against a 20-rider grid. The Compound will teach the scrub and the wheelie, but it will not issue the badge. You have to be in the hot-lap session, on a track the mode will time. Seven circuits have public names. The calendar holds 19. Use a named one while you are learning the target, then move on. Ruts still build if the session lets them, so a gold you set on a fresh surface can be a different lap from a gold you set after ten minutes of your own trenches.

2 Fast for You! is the neighbour, and it is stricter: beat a gold time on an MX2 bike. This icon does not specify the class. An MXGP bike is legal for the first badge. Do that one first, so you know what gold feels like, and only then swap to the support-class motorcycle for the harder comparison. The MX2 offline race grid is 16 because that is the official support-class entry. The hot lap does not grid those 16. You are alone, which is why the badge and the race win are different icons.

Assists change the lap more than they change a short sprint. Hotshot, no assist for a full race, is not required here. You can wear the Amateur assist profile, take the gold, and turn the help down later. Manual stand and sit, once it is on, is worth more in a hot lap than in a five-rider dash because one bad weight shift costs the sector you needed. Four AI levels do not apply to an empty track. Ignore them until you go back to a race.
