What a Start! is the first Fox Holeshot. The gate drops, you reach the first corner ahead of the field, and the racing icon ticks. Global progress is 52.9 percent, so a little over half of players have taken one holeshot and almost half have not. It does not ask for the race win. A holeshot you then throw away in the sand still counts.
The start itself is a setup problem as much as a reflex. Manual stand and sit is off until you enable it, and with it on the rider's weight moves the bike. That matters in the first three seconds, when a sit or a stand changes how the front wheel leaves the gate. Speed Regulation Assist was switched off in the day-one PC patch because it could stop the bike pulling away. Leave it off if a start feels like the throttle is being held back. Remappable keys on PC mean the clutch and throttle can sit under the fingers you actually use.
Johannesburg had a holeshot trigger that was not firing, and PC Update 1 fixed that trigger. If a start on that circuit looked clean and the award never arrived before the patch, install the update and try the gate again. The other named circuits, Bariloche, Riola Sardo, Pietramurata, Loket, Arnhem and Foxhills, were not the subject of that particular fix. A holeshot on any of them still satisfies the icon.
Full House, much later, wants the holeshot in every GP of a championship, plus the win and the best lap. What a Start! is only the first one. By a Whisker, a win by a second or less, often begins with a holeshot you nearly lose. You can own this icon and still be missing both of those. The Fox name on the award is the same Fox Racing that appears on gear and on the edition pack. The award is a race result. It is not a livery you download.
